This poster pretty much says it all, but CrocTalk Zoo has an emergency that wasn’t budgeted for in this facility. The new ponds next year will be concrete and she won’t be able to damage the wood walls as she has done with this pond. Anyway, I apologize for posting this but I need to make folks aware of our need for help in raising funds for her new pool. A larger and stronger structure which will also be used in the future development. WILLEX METALWORKS here in Kelowna has agreed to manufacture and design this 9’x15’x24″structure but the aluminum materials are costly. It’s never easy to ask for help but Lucy needs this new pond and i must ask because Lucy McGator can’t type and isn’t computer savvy! Our study and research of these incredible animals continues here daily regarding, understanding commands, bonding issues, their ability to see colour and what colors they associate with and what colors they don’t. Also regarding Lucy who’s 10’6″ and over 400 lbs with a jaw bite of around 1500lbs per sq, in. and seeing her coming out of the water to take food from my hand very gently. It’s an amazing visual and tells us that they have the ability to understand and can develop a bond as they would in a natural environment, though not readily seen on some of those reality shows. My focus is on conservation and educating our youth that these guys are not pets. CrocTalk Zoo has had so many successes in the last year but wasn’t expecting this expense so close to moving into a new and more compatible environment for these large reptiles. “Never Give Up” has always been my motto and is what we teach school group and youth that attend our educational programs for schools districts, youth camps, boys and girls clubs, scouts and guides and everyone that comes and experiences our “Journey Back in Time into a World of Crocodilians!”.
I’m rambling now but I’ll continue with an article regarding all the study and research on these animals that we do here in conjunction universities and colleges, and I’ll post that soon.
